‘Loomeweight II’ is a new performance project for one loom and two singers, devised collaboratively by Hestor Dart and Patricia Auchterlonie, unfolding over 45 minutes of weaving and sound. loomeweight is a ritual of remembering the un-rememberable, a gathering of voices and threads, a story told in increments, unravelling and finding itself through its sharing.

Patricia Auchterlonie is a performer, composer and maker who moves fluidly between contemporary music, opera, and experimental music. She has premiered major works, including Oliver Leith’s Last Days (Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre), and Lucia II in Beat Furrer's new opera Der grosse Feuer (Zurich Opera House). She brings a highly visual, object-focused perspective to our work, informed by her fascination with the meeting point of historical and experimental forms of making.

Hestor Dart is a singer, musician, and maker whose work is driven by an interest in expansive and unconventional sound, traditional crafts, and collaborative practice. Their approach is deeply interdisciplinary, incorporating improvisation, folk traditions, experimental vocal and instrumental techniques. Their creative framework is shaped by queer, anarchist philosophies, informing both the themes they explore and the collaborative, process-led nature of their practice.

Sound artist, beatboxer and composer Jason Singh and Saxophonist, flautist and producer Tamar Osborn explore the meeting point between plants, humans, electronics and acoustic instruments, creating a living conversation between craft, technology and the natural world. Their performance brings together bio-sonification, instrumental textures and electronic processes, inviting us to listen differently—to plants, to each other, and to the spaces in between. Part improvisation, part sonic exploration, the work asks what can emerge when human and non-human voices, live instrumentation and digital technologies are brought into intimate dialogue.

Jason Singh

Both incomparable and conceptual, the five Shedwomen divest themselves of all cultivated musical norms and graces to most efficiently deliver crude skronk with cloven hooves. Brainchild and performance artist Kate Mahony ruminates on subjects including French philosophy, sex with furniture and in damp flats and the nuclear threat.

Featuring members of bands including Shake Chain, Flat Soufflé, The Chop and Sassyhiya among others, you are never far from a Shed and upon watching, we are reminded that we are all a little part Shed.

Peiriant are a duo of violin and electric guitar, who play with melody and tonality to create atmosphere and soundscape. Electronic equipment, samples and found objects also add to their semi-improvised pieces, which are spun from grounded ideas.

Rose and Dan Linn-Pearl draw from their foundation in folk and classical training in addition to post-rock, minimalism and sound art to weave experimental music that is anchored in the Welsh landscape.

For this Audiograft performance they will perform pieces from their recent critically acclaimed album PLANT and as well as tracks from DYCHWELYD, a record which awarded them The Guardian’s ‘Folk Album of the month’.

Thorn Wych is a musician based in Lancashire, who crafts her own instruments from native UK tree branches.
Her pieces feature bowed string instruments, flutes and percussion, which she manipulates through pitch-bending glitches and delay pedals to create strange atavistic hymns that evoke memories of a world existing beyond the boundaries of the material realm.

Zhuo Mengting (b. Guangzhou, China, 1990) searches for liveness through what comes between. Across live art, participatory installations, concerts and relational curation, she composes situations where distance, silence and partial access become conditions for encounter.

With a background in literature, critical theory and indie music, she works as much with language as with what remains unspoken. She studied Performance Making at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she is now based, and has presented work across the UK, Europe and East Asia, including Whitechapel Gallery, South London Gallery, Cafe OTO, Tai Kwun Contemporary, BY ART MATTERS, MAO Torino and the Prague Quadrennial.
Working from their shared interest in space as a performative medium, Zhuo Mengting and Li-Chin Li develop a live system shaped by breath, airflow and relational movement.

A suspended system of strings and lightweight elements set up by Zhuo becomes both instrument and architecture, sensitive to the performers' presence yet never fully predictable. As Li moves through the space with the Sheng, invisible currents of air and vibration produce shifting relationships between body, object and sound.
